Biography
Mücahit Ünal was born in 1972 in Esenli Town.
He completed his primary and secondary education in Ankara and his high school education in Istanbul. In 1990, he was accepted into the Turkish Air Force Academy and graduated as a second lieutenant in 1994 with a bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering. That same year, he began flight school in Çiğli, İzmir. After completing his training on SF260, T37, and T38 aircraft in 1996, he graduated with honors.
In 1997, after completing Combat Readiness Training in Konya, he underwent F-16 flight training in Ankara and was appointed to the 152nd Squadron at the 5th Main Jet Base in Merzifon. He was involved in the establishment of SEAD and Akıncı Squadrons. In 2003, he was transferred to the 192nd Squadron at the 9th Main Jet Base in Balıkesir (Kaplan Squadron). He served as Flight Safety Officer, Flight Leader, and Training Officer. During his career, he received 7 stripe badges and 2 Distinguished Service Awards, and flew approximately 3000 hours in F-16 aircraft. In 2010, he concluded his duty in the Turkish Air Force and began working as a Captain Pilot at a civilian airline.
He served in various roles including F-16 Instructor Pilot, Flight Safety Officer, Flight Leader, Training Officer, and CRM Instructor.
Additionally, Mücahit Ünal is the author of four poetry books titled 'Love, Istanbul, Life, Breath,' three of which have received the Golden Pen, Golden Author, and Golden Book awards. He was honored with the 'Golden Author' award on May 20, 2023.
Beginning his flight career in 1990, Mücahit Ünal is proficient in English and software development. He is married and has two children.
